THE DESAFINADOS

A journey to the sun-drenched sounds of Brazil

The Desafinados are the newly formed Brazilian group from singer/violinist Azhaar Saffar, They are named afterone of the most famous bossa novas by Antonio Carlos Jobim. Desafinado was the name given to the early bossa nova musicians in the ‘60’s by the sambistas on the hills. It means the ‘Out of tune people’! Because of the crazy new harmonies

Azhaar was known for her work with acclaimed Brazilian-jazz band ‘Sirius B’ described as “One of the premier U.K. based Brazilain outfits”-Timeout Magazine. The band were regulars at London's Jazz Cafe and Barbican Center, released 6 albums and played at festivals such as Montreux, Mai Jazz, Paradise Jazz Cypress, Brecon Jazz, London and Glastonbury.

This new band has already been thrilling audiences, due to the hypnotic effect of the samba! Some audiences even try to join in the show- Don't try this at home!
